Untitled (Winter 2)
The raftors rattled by the storm
Comforted me with their clamor
With them, alone I do not mourn
In the dark heart of winter
The snow piles taller closing me in
As my mind wanders from the drink
And the warm candlelight grows thin
I wander through old notebooks' ink
Each page recalls a fading memory
A time with friends long gone
Evenings of idealism and philosophy
Moments that'll be lost again by dawn
My regrets mix with laughter
As laughter mixes with regret
And the songs we'd sing I can remember
I'd best sing now before I forget
